At the end of September, the Jewish Federation of Greater Ann Arbor was thrilled to welcome Becky Melamed to its professional team in the role of Development Associate.
Becky is a Jewish educator and community professional with expertise in professional and organizational development and experiential education. Previously, Becky served as the Director of PJ Library in Metro Detroit, where her leadership energized the program through new innovative programs and increased outreach to new families. Recently, Becky worked at a Jewish tech start-up called Jlive, a communal connectivity and event non-profit, where she worked in a variety of roles with local and national Jewish organizations.
Becky’s extensive professional experience combined with her deep commitment to Jewish community are great assets to the Federation’s work. As Development Associate, Becky’s primary role is to assist with the communications, technology, and logistics required for Federation’s Annual Community Campaign, as well as other financial resource development efforts on behalf of the local and international Jewish community. These efforts include expanding Federation’s capacity to more deeply engage with corporate partners and targeted campaigns like the LiveSecure initiative to fund a community-wide security program in Jewish Washtenaw County.
Becky holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education. She and her husband Marc have two sons, Max and Ari, and a golden retriever, Maizey Blue, who they describe as “their favorite child.” They can often be found at Michigan football games, traveling, at baseball games (they have been to 22/30 MLB stadiums) and going to concerts.
Becky says she has dedicated her career to growing and deepening Jewish life in her community. “I am looking forward to building on my previous experience in Jewish communal work with the Ann Arbor Federation team,” she says.
