The Jewish Federation of Greater Ann Arbor is so excited to welcome Rhyan Orenstein to the team. Rhyan is a first year Master of Social Work and Jewish Communal Leadership Program student at the University of Michigan and doing her field placement at the Jewish Federation. She will be supporting in all areas of work, but she is particularly excited about working with the CEO to learn about running a Jewish non-profit.
Rhyan was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and she graduated from Goucher College in 2023 with a degree in Psychology. During her time at Goucher College, she was particularly active in Hillel and served as co-president for 2 years. She also worked to create inviting and innovative Shabbats for students and organized ways to keep students engaged when classes went online during COVID. After graduating, she spent two years in Athens, Georgia at HillelUGA as their Ezra Springboard Fellow. In her time there, she oversaw student committees, acted as a support for students, and facilitated multiple Jewish learning groups.

New Graduate Student Intern, Rhyan Orenstein.
“I am excited to continue working in the Jewish nonprofit world. Working to support and uplift the Jewish community is so important to me and I am so excited to apply what I learn in the classroom to better support the Jewish community in Ann Arbor.” says Rhyan.
The Jewish Communal Leadership Program at the University of Michigan offers a distinctive opportunity for aspiring and emerging leaders in the Jewish community to learn how to face the unique challenges of the 21st century.
