Sierra Imwalle and Larry Adler

Jewish Federation (JF): How long have you lived in Ann Arbor and what do you do with your time outside of your Campaign Chair duties?

Larry Adler (LA): Sue and I have lived in Ann Arbor for 35 years. Since retiring from Huron Gastro, completely in August of this year, I spend time golfing, working out, travelling, and getting together with several groups of guys on a regular basis. We visit our granddaughters(and our kids) about every 3 weeks outside of Chicago, and I help care for my parents in West Bloomfield.

Sierra Imwalle (SI): I have lived in Ann Arbor for 14 years, but also grew up in Ann Arbor as well. Outside of chair duties I have two teenagers who are very involved with travel soccer. So, we travel alot all over the country for soccer. I am also a Realtor of 20 years!

JF: How and when did you first get involved in Federation?

LA: I started as co-chair of the Campaign 3 years ago and this is my second campaign as chair. This is my second year on the Federation Board.

SI: I got involved with the Federation because Larry asked me to be his co-chair for the campaign!

JF: What keeps you motivated to do this Federation work?

LA: I am dedicated to preserving and growing the Jewish experience in the wonderful community of Ann Arbor. I enjoy working with the passionate, devoted staff as well as interacting with the diverse and brilliant group of volunteers on the Board and involved with the Campaign.

SI: It feels important to give back to the Jewish community in our area and to see it thrive.

JF: What’s something you wish people understood better about Federation or the Annual Community Campaign?

LA: I wish that people could fully appreciate the impact their generous donations have on the Ann Arbor Jewish community.

SI: That we support organizations all over Washtenaw County and that a significant amount our funds go to security.

JF: Just for fun: If you were invited to a potluck, what would you bring to share?

LA: If I were invited to a potluck, I would bring whatever delicious dish Sue, a fantastic cook, created. Knowing Sue, it would be 2 or 3 dishes to make sure there was plenty to eat.

SI: Usually a salad or homemade cookies.
