Girls in Trouble: Bringing Biblical Women to Life Through Song and Storytelling

April 12 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

The students of the Jewish Communal Leadership Program (JCLP) at the
University of Michigan will be hosting writer, musician, performer, and
feminist Torah teacher Alicia Jo Rabins. The evening will be filled with
music, singing, and learning, as Alicia presents Girls in Trouble, her
interactive indie-folk song cycle which brings Biblical women to life through
song and storytelling. JCLP student Allie Rosenberg will be opening the
evening with a creative musical performance.

Every year, graduating JCLP students plan a public program meant to engage and
challenge the University and Ann Arbor communities around issues or
experiences related to American Jewish life. Girls in Trouble considers the
roles of women in ancient and contemporary Jewish life. From both social work
and Jewish lenses, the JCLP hopes to provide a space for communal Jewish joy.
A short discussion with Alicia considering how these topics impact our modern
lives will follow her performance. Free coffee, espresso, tea, and decaf
drinks will be available before the concert! There are a limited number of
seats available, so please RSVP to register today!
