As only the seventh American citizen to serve in Israel’s Knesset, seeing Israel’s complex and colorful legislative and government decision making up close was sometimes uplifting, sometimes appalling and always fascinating. Based on dozens of idiosyncratic and often humorous anecdotes, this talk describes lesser-known aspects of the rough and tumble of Israeli politics, through the eyes of an academic who with little warning had to learn how to promote key issues like
environmental protection, religious pluralism and gender equality.
