In advance and recognition of Women’s History Month, a group of Israeli women gathered February 24, 2026 in Ann Arbor for an evening of aromatherapy, connection, and community building. Coordinated by the Jewish Federation of Greater Ann Arbor, the aromatherapy presentation was led by Aviv Touitou, a certified aromatherapist and social worker, who combines professional expertise with a great commitment to community well-being.
The event brought together women from different stages of life and different points in their journeys. Some were new members of the community, who recently arrived in Ann Arbor for university-related assignments. Others were long-time residents – the “vatikim”. And some, have been in the community for a few years, gradually putting down roots and proudly calling Ann Arbor and its Jewish community their home. There was even a visitor from West Bloomfield, who was excited for the opportunity to meet fellow Israeli women and enjoy stimulating conversation in Hebrew.
This was more than an aromatherapy workshop. It was a chance to honor women’s stories and contributions. The event was the first in a series of Jewish Federation engagements providing members of the local Israeli community meaningful opportunities to strengthen connections and celebrate shared heritage.
