Religious Sources as a Bridge Rather than a Divider: The Min Ha-Be'erot Program for Jewish and Arab School Principals and Educators.

The Jewish Federation is honored to present Prof Daniel Statman, head of the philosophy department at the University of Haifa, for an innovative and informative presentation.

Launched four years ago by the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem, the Min Ha-Be'erot ("From the Wells") Program aims to bring together Arab and Jewish educators to study texts from the three Abrahamic religions. The program has had a powerful - at times transformative - effect on participants and has led to numerous initiatives to foster shared activities between Jewish and Arab schools. Prof Statman, one of the initiators and leaders of Min Ha-Be'erot, will explain how it works, why it is so successful and plans for future development. To get a flavor of this unique initiative, Prof Statman will lead a short text-study (havruta) on forgiveness, based on texts from the Quran and from Genesis.
