DESCRIPTION:Register Here \nThe Jewish community of greater Ann Arbor is organizing a community trip to Israel over winter break 2025-2026. An “inspiration and information” session about the trip will take place at the JCC of Greater Ann Arbor on October 10th at 7pm. This trip prioritizes safety and will go forth in the safest conditions\, giving up neither meaningful learning experiences nor fun for the entire family. \nIsrael is changing: war and aspirations of peace\, political struggles over religious practices\, judicial reform and control over the West Bank\, human rights\, and much more. It’s possible to read about these topics in the news\, but how many Americans have personally met with Israeli activists\, seen the places from the headlines\, or heard firsthand accounts of the realities of life there? All of us\, even the savviest Israel travelers\, have a lot to learn\, as well as to teach: our children and grandchildren. \nOur community trip is intentionally designed for the Ann Arbor Jewish community by Ann Arbor Rabbis\, educators and travel professionals. October 7th shifted that for them. \nOn October 7th\, Noa’s lifelong best friend\, Ziv Berman\, and his twin brother\, Gali Berman\, were kidnapped from their homes at Kibbutz Kfar Aza and taken hostage in Gaza by Hamas. Their fate remains unknown. Noa\, one of the last people to speak with Ziv before the attack\, has since become a key member of the Hostage Family Forum. \nShay was pulled out of his regular life\, rushing for the rescue on the day of the attack\, and serving extensive tours in the Gaza war as a reservist of an elite IDF unit since then. \nBoth will be joining us\, here in Ann Arbor\, to share their stories\, and the stories of those who cannot share – the fallen and the kidnapped. \n  \nLearn about the community Vigil on UM’s Diag on Oct. 7 here. \n
