DESCRIPTION:Register Here \nThe Jewish community of greater Ann Arbor is organizing a community trip to Israel over winter break 2025-2026. An “inspiration and information” session about the trip will take place at the JCC of Greater Ann Arbor on October 10th at 7pm. This trip prioritizes safety and will go forth in the safest conditions\, giving up neither meaningful learning experiences nor fun for the entire family. \nIsrael is changing: war and aspirations of peace\, political struggles over religious practices\, judicial reform and control over the West Bank\, human rights\, and much more. It’s possible to read about these topics in the news\, but how many Americans have personally met with Israeli activists\, seen the places from the headlines\, or heard firsthand accounts of the realities of life there? All of us\, even the savviest Israel travelers\, have a lot to learn\, as well as to teach: our children and grandchildren. \nOur community trip is intentionally designed for the Ann Arbor Jewish community by Ann Arbor Rabbis\, educators and travel professionals. DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, January 21\, 7pm\, Temple Beth Emeth\, Social Hall\, 2309 Packard\, Ann Arbor \nDid you know that thousands of homes in Washtenaw County have racist restrictive covenants attached to them?  There are also covenants containing anti-semitic restrictions.  Although no longer enforceable\, they are connected to ongoing inequities\, provide an opportunity to explore ways to repair the harms they caused\, and can be removed by current homeowners. \nPlease join the Social Action Committees of Temple Beth Emeth and Beth Israel Congregation to learn how each of us can help Justice InDeed document the history and legacy of housing discrimination in our community.  Justice InDeed is a community collaborative project that seeks to better understand and repair the harms done by racially restrictive covenants in Washtenaw County. \nAt this in-person session\, we will learn how to identify and transcribe racially restrictive covenants.  We will work together to build a database and map for affected properties all over the County\, helping us better reckon with our collective history. \nNo experience is necessary\, just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to help make a difference in our community!  Please bring a laptop or tablet if you can.  See you there! \nRegistration is required and can be done directly at https://www.templebethemeth.org/event/justice-indeed-training.html.  For more information\, contact Michael Appel at mappel1961@gmail.com or Cathy Marshall at happycath@comcast.net.
