DESCRIPTION:The First Annual!\nA2 Climate Teach-In\nMay 7\, 2023 – 1:30-5:00 p.m.\nGenesis of Ann Arbor (2309 Packard St.)\n  \nOpening Keynote Speaker: Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor\n\nTo register to attend this in-person event CLICK HERE\n\n\n\n\nThe first teach-in\, protesting the Vietnam War\, was held overnight at the University of Michigan on March 24-25\, 1965. Over 3\,000 people attended debates\, lectures\, movies\, and musical events.\nThe teach-in received national press and inspired 35 more teach-ins on college campuses within the next week. By the end of the year there had been teach-ins at 120 campuses. Antiwar teach-ins were held until the end of the war.

Orange ribbons (to pin on clothing) will be provided outside the sanctuary. \nWe have an amazing guest speaker who will talk from the Bima at the service: \n\nDr. Alytia Levendosky\, a TBE congregant and Professor of Psychology at MSU\nDustin Yancey\, activist and founder of “Bridging America’s Foundations”\n\nZach Bernstein will blow the shofar at the service as a call for action to end gun violence.

DESCRIPTION:Share Your Immigrant Stories! \nOn June 23\, as part of the June for Justice Shabbats\, the TBE Social Action committee will host a Refugee Shabbat honoring TBE’s work with Jewish Family Services and Jewish Congregations Organized for Resettlement (JCOR). \nAs part of this Shabbat service\, we are asking congregants to share your immigration stories. What was it like to come to America? What were the joys and woes when you\, your parents\, or (great) grandparents first arrived? Is there a funny story to tell? A tragic story? Did coming here meet your (your family member’s) expectations? What did you/they wish you had known? \nYour story should be short (no more than a typed page). Tell us where you/your family member came from and when they arrived here.
