SUMMARY:Girls in Trouble: Bringing Biblical Women to Life Through Song and Storytelling
DESCRIPTION:The students of the Jewish Communal Leadership Program (JCLP) at the\nUniversity of Michigan will be hosting writer\, musician\, performer\, and\nfeminist Torah teacher Alicia Jo Rabins. The evening will be filled with\nmusic\, singing\, and learning\, as Alicia presents Girls in Trouble\, her\ninteractive indie-folk song cycle which brings Biblical women to life through\nsong and storytelling. JCLP student Allie Rosenberg will be opening the\nevening with a creative musical performance. \nEvery year\, graduating JCLP students plan a public program meant to engage and\nchallenge the University and Ann Arbor communities around issues or\nexperiences related to American Jewish life. Girls in Trouble considers the\nroles of women in ancient and contemporary Jewish life. From both social work\nand Jewish lenses\, the JCLP hopes to provide a space for communal Jewish joy.\nA short discussion with Alicia considering how these topics impact our modern\nlives will follow her performance. Free coffee\, espresso\, tea\, and decaf\ndrinks will be available before the concert! SUMMARY:Yom Hazikaron Commemoration Event
DESCRIPTION:Israeli Memorial Day Commemoration for the Greater Ann Arbor Community\nיוֹם הַזִּכָּרוֹן Yom HaZikaron\nPlease wear white shirts\nCeremony will be followed by a song circle \nThis year\, our Yom HaZikaron ceremony carries a broader meaning.\nWe gather — as we do every year — to honor the memory of Israel’s fallen\nsoldiers and the victims of terror. But this year\, we also turn our gaze to\nJewish communities around the world\, where Jews have been targeted and killed\nsimply for being Jewish. Sydney\, Washington DC\, Manchester. Their names and\nstories belong in our circle of memory too.\nAs a diaspora community\, we know that the fate of the Jewish people is shared\n— across borders\, across languages and across generations.\nWe invite you to share these stories in our ceremony and commemorate a victim\nof violence against Jews worldwide — whether they fell in Israel’s wars\, were\nkilled in a terror attack\, or were taken by antisemitic violence anywhere in\nthe world. https://forms.office.com/r/7Ku0EdHig6 \nOrganized by: Jewish Federation of Greater Ann Arbor \nView event on Jlive: https://jlive.app/events/14224
