SUMMARY:JCC Jungle Project
DESCRIPTION:The JCC of Greater Ann Arbor has received a matching grant from the Harold\nGrinspoon Foundation’s JCamp 180. Our organization will bring this community a\nmuch needed resource to facilitate outdoor programming\, onsite\, in our\nbeautiful forest ground. SUMMARY:TBE Congregational Experiences with Zionism and Anti-Zionism
DESCRIPTION:Our synagogues have always held multitudes. We come from different\nbackgrounds\, hold different politics\, and bring different Jewish journeys to\nour congregations\, and somehow we find a way to be a community\, together. But\nthe question of Zionism is testing that capacity in new ways. Across the\ncountry\, congregations are grappling with how to remain whole when their\nmembers hold fundamentally different\, sometimes irreconcilable\, views.\nHow do we stay in relationship with one another? How do rabbis and lay leaders\ncreate space for genuine disagreement without fracturing the community they’ve\nworked so hard to build? These are not easy questions\, and there are no simple\nanswers\, but they are exactly the questions this program is designed to\nexplore.\nKarla Goldman\, who directs the University of Michigan’s Jewish Communal\nLeadership Program\, will bring her expertise in Jewish institutions to\nmoderate a conversation on that can engage the diverse perspectives within the\nroom. Andrew Lapin will offer on-the-ground reporting on how Liberal Jewish\ncongregations nationally are wrestling with this challenge.
