Cindy Adams, Operations Manager and
e-Communications

Cindy began working for the Federation in March 2007. Previously she worked at the Chelsea Retirement Community for ten years. She has always lived in Washtenaw County and she currently lives in Chelsea with her husband Danny. Her adult daughter, Melissa, lives in Birmingham, AL.

Rabbi Ilana G. Baden, Director of Community Engagement

Rabbi Baden joined the Federation staff in May 2013.  Previously, Ilana served as Associate Rabbi of Cincinnati's Isaac Mayer Wise Temple for ten years, and as Associate Rabbi of Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation for three years before that. During her tenure in Cincinnati, Ilana was also the President of the Greater Cincinnati Board of Rabbis and served as a board member for the Cincinnati Federation, Women's Rabbinic Network, and the local American Jewish Committee. In addition, Ilana has served as a faculty member for Jewish overnight camps and has most recently been involved with Olin Sang Ruby Union Camp Institute's Hebrew immersion program.
 
Ilana received her rabbinic ordination in 1999 from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, where she served as President of the Rabbinical Student Assembly. Prior to that, Ilana studied at the University of Michigan and received two Bachelor of Arts degrees, one in history and one in Near Eastern Studies-Modern Hebrew Language. Ilana was extremely active in Hillel and served as its chairperson during her senior year. She also taught at Temple Beth Emeth during her student days.
 
Despite her deep fulfillment and joy with her involvement with the Federation, Ilana takes the greatest pleasure with her family. She is married to Jeffrey Baden and is the proud mother of two children.

Denise Bennett, Director of Finance

Denise Bennett comes to the Jewish Federation from a position of Controller in the for-profit world. She has a dual degree in accounting and computer programming. Denise has worked in the accounting field for over 20 years.


Eileen Freed, Director of Israel/Overseas and Community Relations

Eileen joined the Federation staff in September 2006.

Previously, Eileen served as Program Coordinator at the Sol Drachler Program in Jewish Communal Service at the University of Michigan and Volunteer & Program Coordinator at Beth El Synagogue in Durham, NC. 

 

Prior to her career in Jewish communal service, Eileen worked in Human Resources. As a lay leader, Eileen was involved in founding a Jewish day school in Durham, NC and was the school’s first board president. 

 

Eileen earned her BA at the University of Texas at Austin and her MBA at the University of Houston. She is the proud wife of Gary Freed, Director of General Pediatrics at University of Michigan and mother of Ben, Michele, and Ariel.

 

David Shtulman, Executive Director

David Shtulman joined the staff of the Federation in July 2008 as Executive Director. David came from Pittsburgh where he had spent seven years with the United Jewish Federation working in campaign, community relations and as Assistant Director of Planning and Allocations. After leaving the UJF to become Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Jewish Committee for seven years, David later returned to the UJF to work in their Foundation as Director of Agency Endowments for three years before coming to Ann Arbor.

A dual citizen of Israel and the US, David and his wife Debbie were co-founders of Moshav Shorashim in the Misgav region of the Galilee and lived there from 1981-88. David is a graduate of the Baltimore Institute for Jewish Communal Service program and holds Masters Degrees in Jewish Studies from the Baltimore Hebrew University and Social Work with a concentration in community organization and administration from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. David and Debbie have two grown children, Ari and Tal.

Mimi Weisberg, Campaign Director

 

Mimi Weisberg joined the staff of Federation in June 2012 as Campaign Director. Previously, Mimi served as the Director of Jewish Cultural Arts and Education at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Ann Arbor and as the Volunteer Recruitment Specialist at SOS Community Services.

Prior to her arrival in Ann Arbor, Mimi worked as an independent fundraiser and dedicated volunteer for the fundraising efforts for many non-profit organizations. She worked for the Carman-Ainsworth Public School District in Flint with at-risk children and as a community liaison. 


Mimi is passionate about the Jewish community, cooking and connecting people to their past through genealogy.


Mimi is a native of Toledo and is married to Bob Weisberg, Senior Manager at FedEx Ground. She is the proud mother of Allison, Kelsey and Emilie.
